I'm not sure where yet, I'd love to stay in Delaware, maybe Fenwick Island. Fenwick still has the atmosphere Bethany USED to have, and because of the marshy area, development is limited. Plus, there's a big, beautiful RV park there called Treasure Beach. It's a shame we didn't find it sooner. We could have had a much nicer vacation this year if we had.

The beach is narrower and there are parking meters now but it retains it's charm and the delight of walking on the boardwalk in the evening to get a soft serve ice cream cone, remains one of the simplier pleasures in ones life. Where are all the sea shells?? The beach is beautiful but small. Very long tho. Still we enjoyed ourselves alot. Only question I have is why isn't there any sea shells???? Our family vacations every year in Bethany Beach at Sea Colony and we spend almost every night in the town of Bethany Beach.
The town has made some huge strides this year in a make-over for the boardwalk and beach. In addition there is a brand new Grottos Pizza attached to a new plaza of shops and a new condo building. Bethany is so low key and has such a classy feeling without being too expensive to enjoy. Don't forget Delaware is a sales tax free! To those worried about parking-there is laways parking available on the adjacent side streets as opposed to the main street downtown.
Yes, there are meters and yes you have to pay to park, just like everywhere else. We grew up going to Ocean City and now that we have kids we didn't want them exposed to what Ocean City has become so we tried Bethany and fell in love with the town and with Sea Colony. With Ocean City's junk and taudry bars, shopping and trash Bethany feels like you are in a different world, not just a different state.

Frankly I just don't understand, it doesn't make any send. Cruel, overly aggressive and completely unprofessional, that's my experience with the authorities of Bethany Beach. This town is in violation of ADA standards and should be investigated by national authors.

It is just a tourist trap all they want is your money and care little about the quality of your visit. There are speed traps everywhere and they write tickets even for 5 mph over the speed limit. I hope this review helps people and that that they stay away from this place.
Screw Delaware I will never be back. I feel the best way to let a place or business know that you are dissatisfied is to no longer give them your business. The economy is down right now and to be nickle and dime'd by their bureaucracy is totally crappy.
I guess they are sending the message they really do not want tourists or they have so many to do not care if they loose a few. Very Unfriendly-Money Driven-Not like it used to be! We have a residence in Ocean City, Maryland and drive up to Bethany to visit it's Boardwalk area and restaurants.
We have been not feeling the same warmth and friendliness. We decided to drive up on a weeknight and arrived "after hours".
Most of the stores were closed by 10pm. The parking lots were basically deserted. We put several quarters in the meter and quickly did our shopping. Whe arrived back at our car to find a meter officer giving us a Our meter had just expired. We were the only car in the parking lot! I could see if it was a weekend and the lot was full with cars driving around. We were walking to the car as he was punching the tag.
The town government seemed overjoyed to fine our family and not very nioe when I called to complain. We will stay in Ocean City to do our shopping and dining from now on.

If you are talking main beach at boardwalk bethany they discourage it due to wanting restrooms to stay clean.
I know down around inlet people use those for changing and quite frankly it's disgusting if you go in to use bathrooms. There is sand, wAter, slop, everywhere.
