Thread starter mcmay Start date Nov 14, Hi, people, here are three verbs that have for the past few days been teasing my mind.
They are: spray, splash and sprinkle. I've checked them up in many big dictionaries in order to distinguish one from another but have up to now ended up more confused than ever. Vitamin B Complex Well-known member. May 14, I know it's probably been asked a million times but what is the difference between a spray fragrance and a splash one? Jul 5, Click to expand Aug 24, I hate splashs, and i dont know how to use this way!
Vitamin B Complex said:. I don't understand why they cost about half of what a spray costs. Can't just be the spritzer? I dont find some splash with half the price, but i only buy online, so maybe its this the reason. Sep 13, Thank you for this bizarre, moody and useless post. Oct 10, I hate splash, you get it all over your fingers, it's far less efficient in its application so you end up going through it at a greater rate than an atomiser.
Just not keen at all. Sorcery of Scent Guest. In a nutshell, A spray EDT has a higher perfume concentration, and is applied from the jawline down. Dec 5, Some EDTs come in a splash bottle. I prefer sprays, but have found some fragrances I wanted mostly discontinued ones that were in a splash botte. So I just decant some into an atomizer and spray away. No big deal IMO. Sorcery of Scent said:. Brilliant post, thanks. Oct 25, Renato Well-known member. Oct 21, The bottles all have the small hole in the top like after shave splash bottles have, and the idea is to either splash some drops onto your body, or some onto your hands and spread it around neck and body.
The problem is that these bottles have to be opened every time they are used, so they may not last as long as spray bottles before they go off. Also they don't last as long because one tends to over apply them and use them up faster than sprays. You can use many of the stronger aftershave splashes that last four or five hours as colognes, but the newer styled weaker ones often only last two hours.
When Joop Homme aftershave splash is used as a cologne, it lasts about 48 hours - which is longer than most EDTs on the market. The good thing about EDT splashes is that when a scent is discontinued, the splash version can often be found many years after the spray version has disappeared.
Regards, Renato. Jan 14, Occasionally, aftershaves which are usually splash come with a spray mechanism. It's longevity was horrendous though. StylinLA Well-known member.
Aug 9, Vitamin, I see in your link that it is an "aftershave" version of Le Male. What do fragrance notes refer to? How can I keep my fragrance from going bad?
The differences are simply a matter of the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. These oils are called "juice. Actually, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are generally interchangeable, particularly in Men's fragrances. After Shave has the least amount of oils. The higher the concentration of "juice" the longer your fragrance will last, and the less you need to apply. People with dry skin usually find their fragrance holding time shorter than those with oily skin because oily skin has more natural moisture to hold in the fragrance.
PH levels amount of acidity in our skin also varies slightly from person to person. Our individual levels of PH will determine how each ingredient in a fragrance will react. Fragrance lasts longer on some people than on others because of differences in our skin oily or dry and in our PH levels.
To achieve a longer effect, try layering your fragrance. Using the fragrance bath gel, if the company offers one , then the moisturizer or powder, and then the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum or Eau de Cologne, will usually have a longer lasting effect. Also, apply your fragrance low on the body, as well as behind your ears and on your neck, so that the scent rises and you won't lose it as quickly.
